I think the video was interesting because I can relate to it too. I'm not a native English speaker, and there are many ways that I used to learn the language (well, mostly what my teachers taught me back in school)

Well, first of all, when I started learning English, me and my classmates were taught to focus on our vocabulary. Knowing many words helps us to go one step further - learning grammar, conversation, pronunciation etc. However, unlike what the interviewees experienced, we did not have many chances to practise speaking with many foreign people. But practising with each other helped us shake off our nervousness and in time, it became fun.

I think so, too! When I want to tell about something, I don't know what call it in English, and ask friends in Japanese. This is not good to improve skills of learning English!

ReplyDeleteMy vocabulary is very poor! Because I was taught English to focus on listening and speaking...
But these skills I'm using by Xbox's voicechat. so, I have no regrets.
To Takamasa: When I learn a new word, I try to memorize it many times, so that it sticks in my head, hehe. I will also think up 2 or 3 sentences that I can use with the vocabulary. You guys should try it too!
